Mother-Child Residence, 424 Market St., Emporia, KS We have 18 beds and 14 (75%) of them must be occupied by eligible women veterans and 4 (25%) of the beds can occupied for state funded substance abuse treatment for civilian women.

Having to stay with friends or relatives
We are here to help you! On our VA program, veteran women can stay for 18 to 24 months. This can
be a life changing transition for women who have a true desire to change.
VA Eligibility Requirements to reside at Mother-Child:
DD-214 to determine eligibility & honorable discharge may take up to 6 weeks to get. (If they have had previous VA services or medical treatment, they may already be in the VA data system and the veteran may be able to come to the Mother-Child residence right away).
2 years continuous military service
Cannot have stayed in a shelter for more than 90 days prior to coming
Must want to live in Emporia, KS for the 18 to 24 months -- to be approved by the VA.
Children may accompany their mothers.
Substance abuse treatment is not required for women veterans to be eligible to reside at Mother-Child; however, potential residents will be screened and evaluated for substance abuse issues.
Requirements for civilian women to reside at Mother-Child: must be evaluated and need substance abuse treatment with state funding or private insurance. Residential stay is limited to 30 to 120 days and children may accompany their mothers.
